The Ambition
With an ambitious net zero pathway, DWF has committed to reduce emissions by 90% by 2045, with the residual 10% balanced through verified carbon removals. This clear pathway reflects DWF’s integrity and leadership in taking meaningful, measurable climate action.
“Our Pathway to Net Zero represents our commitment to meaningful and measurable climate action. The DWF Forest is a long-term investment in environmental stewardship, going beyond carbon removal to actively restore nature and biodiversity.” Sir Nigel Knowles, CEO, DWF

The Action
Partnering with Climate Impact Partners, DWF is exclusively supporting Broadmeadows, the ‘DWF Forest’, in the Scottish Borders. This project covers 225 hectares of land, transitioning from sheep grazing to a thriving mixed woodland of conifers and native broadleaves. Over half a million trees have been planted since 2018.
The project operates under the UK Woodland Carbon Code, ensuring robust measurement and verification of carbon removals. Designed with extensive biodiversity surveys and local community input, the DWF Forest also features accessible pathways for community benefit.
