London, UK, 25 February 2026 - The LEGO Group has expanded its portfolio of carbon removal solutions through support for a large-scale reforestation project in Quintana Roo State, Mexico, delivered in partnership with Climate Impact Partners, a global leader in high-quality carbon market solutions.

The initiative forms part of the LEGO Group’s continued exploration of how quality carbon removal actions can help address global climate goals, alongside its priority to reduce emissions within its own value chain.

Support of the Quintana Roo Restoration Project, developed by Canopia Carbon, is included within the LEGO Group’s additional DKK 18 million commitment across four carbon removal projects, spanning nature-based and technology-based solutions.

The Quintana Roo Restoration Project aims to restore degraded tropical forest across more than 14,000 hectares in southeast Mexico through activities including native tree planting, species recovery, fire prevention, and community forest management programmes.

Alongside carbon removal, the project delivers a range of environmental and social benefits, including:

  • Biodiversity protection - Restoring tropical forest ecosystems and habitats for native plant and animal species including pumas, ocelots, parrots, and spider monkeys.
  • Community benefits – The community receives at least 70% of the revenue generated, with more than 20% of the project budget allocated to job creation - generating income for the local community.
  • Long-term stewardship - Supporting sustainable land management, monitoring and local capacity building.

With a manufacturing site in Mexico, the expanded portfolio enables the LEGO Group to support carbon removal projects in countries where the company has a local presence.

Annette Stube, Chief Sustainability Officer at the LEGO Group, said: “We are continuing to explore a range of credible nature- and technology-based carbon removal approaches as part of our wider climate strategy. While reducing emissions in our own operations remains our priority, working with experienced partners allows us to build our understanding of different pathways and contribute to solutions that also deliver benefits for nature and local communities.”

Sheri Hickok, CEO at Climate Impact Partners, said: “We are proud to continue our partnership with the LEGO Group, delivering high-quality carbon projects that create measurable outcomes for climate, biodiversity, and communities. The LEGO Group’s approach highlights how companies can partner with experts to build robust, credible climate strategies that translate ambition into action.”

This announcement builds on the LEGO Group’s support of a reforestation project in Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley in the USA, delivered in partnership with Climate Impact Partners.
