Eden Springs UK achieves CarbonNeutral® certification with Climate Impact Partners

Published 30 July 2025

London, UK – July 30, 2025 – Eden Springs UK, a leading provider of water and coffee solutions, has achieved Climate Impact Partners’ CarbonNeutral® company certification for the 15th year. The company was the first water cooler supplier in the UK to achieve a carbon neutral certification.

To achieve CarbonNeutral® certification, in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol, Eden Springs’ scope 1, 2 and relevant scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions were validated by a third-party assessor.

In addition to implementing significant internal emission reduction activities, including sourcing renewable energy for its operations, minimizing transport usage and reuse of its water bottles, Eden Springs UK is purchasing high-quality carbon removal credits to compensate for its unavoidable emissions.

It is supporting a carbon removal project in Scotland, the Scaliscro Peatland Restoration – where the company is headquartered. Located on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, this project restores degraded peatland by blocking drainage ditches to stabilise the peatland and raise the water level - reducing the loss of a valuable carbon sink. The project is also reintroducing native vegetation and carefully managing grazing to facilitate its recovery.

It is one of the first projects to issue Peatland Issuance Units (PIUs), marking a significant milestone in peatland restoration through carbon finance.

Ben Brown, Managing Director at Eden Springs, said:As the first water supplier in the UK to achieve Carbon Neutral® certification, we are proud to have been at the forefront of climate action within our industry. Being climate and nature responsible is not only the right thing to do, but is better for our business, our employees and our customers. This certification demonstrates our ongoing dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and supporting impactful climate solutions, like the Scaliscro Peatland Restoration project, a geographically important location for us.

Meera Varsani, Head of Client Solutions, EU & RoW,  at Climate Impact Partners said: "We're proud to partner with Eden Springs UK on their ongoing climate action journey. Their dedication to reducing their footprint and compensating for unavoidable emissions by supporting high-quality carbon projects, like Scaliscro, demonstrates their commitment to a sustainable future. Peatlands are critical carbon sinks, and this project not only reduces emissions but also delivers important benefits for biodiversity and local communities.”

Eden Springs is currently finalizing its 2024 footprint by establishing a baseline and setting a near-term reduction target, while also implementing measures aimed at reducing its environmental impact.

About CarbonNeutral® certification

CarbonNeutral® certification was created and is managed by Climate Impact Partners. It was the first clear set of guidelines for businesses to achieve carbon neutrality back in 2002, and every year since then Climate Impact Partners has continued its commitment to providing a robust framework for clear, transparent and high-quality technical carbon neutral action.

The CarbonNeutral Protocol is a publicly available document that sets out the requirements for companies to achieve CarbonNeutral® certification. It is updated annually with input from an Advisory Council of external experts to ensure it reflects the latest industry and scientific best practice. Find out more at: carbonneutral.com
