CCP-Approved Credits

The Core Carbon Principles set a global benchmark for high-integrity carbon credits. To carry the CCP label, both the crediting program and the methodology used to generate the credit must meet criteria set by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market.
We add another layer. Every CCP-approved project we offer must also pass Climate Impact Partners' own project-level due diligence. That means looking beyond the methodology to understand how the individual project is designed, managed and delivered on the ground.
CCP-approved credits are available across a growing range of nature-based and technology-based solutions. Our portfolio includes projects across areas including:

Protect and restore forests and improve how land is managed.

Change farming practices to store more carbon and reduce emissions.

Use technologies such as cleaner cookstoves to reduce emissions while delivering benefits for households.

Capture or avoid potent greenhouse gases before they enter the atmosphere.

Generate power from wind, solar, geothermal, or hydro instead of fossil fuels

Remove CO₂ through nature-based and engineered approaches designed for long-term storage.

We don’t just select CCP-approved credits. We develop them.
Our project expertise is built on direct experience of developing and working with projects on the ground. That same expertise shapes how we assess quality, manage risk and select the right projects for our clients.
Our team has led two of the first five projects globally using Verra’s VM0047 methodology, including pioneering projects in the Philippines and India.
We also have projects in development across Colombia, Kenya and Zambia.
When you buy from us, you're backed by a team that has designed and delivered projects under some of the market's most demanding methodologies, not simply sourced credits developed by others.

Our experts can help you build a balanced portfolio that meets your business goals and budget.
The Core Carbon Principles are ten criteria the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) uses to define a high-quality carbon credit. They cover governance, additionality, permanence, robust quantification and safeguards for people and nature. A credit only carries the CCP label once its crediting program and its specific methodology have both been independently assessed against these criteria.
ICVCM uses what it calls a two-tick process. First, the crediting program itself, such as Verra, Gold Standard, ACR or CAR, must be approved as CCP-Eligible. Then, the specific methodology used to generate the credit must separately be approved as CCP-Approved before any credit from it can carry the label.
No. The CCP label tells you a program and methodology passed ICVCM's independent assessment, but it is not a substitute for checking an individual project. We apply our own project-level screening to every CCP-approved credit before it reaches our range, so you get two layers of assurance, not one.
Generally, yes. Market data shows CCP-labelled credits carrying a price premium over non-CCP credits, and demand for them is rising faster than supply.
We track ICVCM's assessment decisions as they're published, not just at the category level but methodology by methodology, since approval status can vary by version. We use that, alongside our own project vetting, to build a portfolio that fits your budget, your sector's risk profile, and the specific claims you want to make.
ICVCM is still working through its assessment of methodologies across the market, and coverage is expanding steadily. 44 methodologies are already CCP-approved methodologies with credits available today.
No. Approval is tied to a specific methodology version, and those can be updated, superseded, or withdrawn. A credit that qualified last year isn't guaranteed to still qualify today. That's why we build ongoing portfolio review into our work with you, tracking methodology changes as ICVCM publishes them and flagging any holdings that need attention before they become a reporting problem.
