Climate Impact Partners Registers India’s First VM0047 Project with Verra

London, UK, 19 February 2026 – Climate Impact Partners, a global leader in high-quality carbon market solutions, today announced the successful registration of Reforesting India: Project Aranya under Verra’s VM0047 methodology.

The Aranya project, located in Madhya Pradesh, India, is only the fourth globally - and the first in India - to be registered under this rigorous new standard for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) – approved by the ICVCM for its high-quality Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label.

This milestone further solidifies Climate Impact Partners’ technical leadership in VM0047 project development, following its successful registration of Asia’s first such project (the RIZOME Kawayan Project) in the Philippines.

Designed from the outset to align with the highest global standards for carbon removal, the Aranya project’s registration confirms it meets the rigorous quality, permanence, and monitoring requirements embedded in the CCP-approved methodology.

Sheri Hickok, CEO, Climate Impact Partners, said: “The registration of Aranya is a testament to the technical strength and dedication of our team, proving our ability to design and deliver projects of the highest calibre under the world’s most demanding methodologies. Importantly, it also means our clients can access high quality, VM0047 CCP aligned, carbon removals from a project that delivers real, lasting impact for both climate and communities. Aranya reflects the kind of high integrity carbon removal infrastructure the market needs to scale.”

The Aranya project is a large-scale initiative designed to restore degraded landscapes while providing direct economic benefits to local populations. Key impacts include:

  • Large-Scale Restoration - Up to 10 million mixed native trees are being planted across farmer lands, which will remove three million tonnes of carbon .
  • Economic Opportunity - Farmers benefit directly from a share of carbon credit sales and income generated from the sericulture and fruit value chains, creating a sustainable, multi-generational livelihood model.
  • Water Infrastructure - The project has implemented large-scale water systems, including ponds, borewells, and drip irrigation, to support tree growth and improve local water conservation.

While a significant portion of the project’s carbon removals have been secured through a long-term offtake agreement with Microsoft, 50% of the project’s high-integrity credits remain available for purchase. As a CCP aligned credit with an ex-ante A.pre rating from BeZero Carbon, Aranya represent the highest quartile of quality available on the market today.
