VMware, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, recently released its 2022 ESG report. The report highlights VMware's sustainability achievements with Climate Impact Partners, including its fourth consecutive year as a certified CarbonNeutral® company, its investment in our mangrove planting project, and its support of carbon finance projects in Africa and India.
“We applaud VMware for another strong year of climate action,” said Melissa Vernon, Director of Global Client Engagement at Climate Impact Partners. “VMware continues to be a sustainability leader and sets the bar high by investing in the highest quality climate solutions that create the greatest impact and drive the transition to a net zero economy.”
These achievements build on VMware’s multi-year partnership with Climate Impact Partners, which began in 2017, when VMware certified its primary data center as CarbonNeutral. It then set out to make the entire company CarbonNeutral by 2020 and reached its goal two years ahead of schedule, in 2018. The company has renewed its CarbonNeutral certification every year since. Climate Impact Partners has also helped VMware become 100% powered by renewable energy and continues to work with the company to meet its net zero target by 2030.
“We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Climate Impact Partners, who are leading experts in the Voluntary Carbon Market,” said Natasha Tuck, Director of Sustainability & ESG, at VMware. “We appreciate their integrity, their robust approach, and their relentless focus on using our budget to deliver the highest possible impact for the climate.”
VMware supports carbon finance projects that provide more than just climate benefits, including: afforestation and reforestation projects that enhance biodiversity; cookstove and water filtration projects that improve health and livelihoods; and sustainable infrastructure projects that provide large-scale renewable energy and transportation solutions.
